A previous funding provided a nurse for the home but that came to an end 2010. Our children however receive medical attention from St Joseph Mercy Hospital and we are doing every thing to maintain our counselor who is especially good to the older girls who are in the challenging period of adolescence. “The new home will provide around-the-clock care for these children, and referrals will come from the Child Protection Agency of the Ministry of Social Protection, a natural partnership,” she said. At the event, which was held on Friday, November 29th at the Parc Rayne Event Centre, Chairman of the RCHCC Reverend Ivan Williams noted that the home has grown over the years since officially opening its doors in 2006. “The main premise of the home is to give children hope for the future, that’s what we would have endeavoured to do over the years,” Williams said, while noting that it is their growth that has necessitated the new home for younger children. The Ruimveldt Children’s Home and Care Centre in collaboration with the Foundation 7 Music School hosted a fundraising event for “Project Hope,” which will see the construction of a home for vulnerable children 11 years and under. Williams further noted that with the new home, in which the children will be provided with 24-hour care, will also require furnishing. My name is Amit Bhat, and I'm working with Ruimveldt Children's Home and Care Center, a home for orphaned, vulnerable and HIV/AIDS-infected children in the heart of Guyana's capital city, to help mitigate the financial challenges the pandemic is posing on the nonprofit. Through the collaborative fundraising event, students who would have recently completed courses at the Foundation 7 Music School, provided entertainment for guests with songs and instrumental pieces at the event. Giving the feature address at the event, US Ambassador to Guyana Sarah Ann Lynch noted that the RCHCC’s operation for 13 years is quite an achievement and speaks to the Guyanese value of taking care of each other and the less fortunate.
